RAVE observations on the southern sky hemisphere The stars observed by RAVE are from the southern hemisphere, since the UK-Schmidt telescope is located in Australia. There are only a few observation fields in the area of the Milky Way disk (central part), because in this crowded area it is much harder to collect and analyse individual stars. Credit: AIP/K.
